PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" best for?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" is designed as a primary kitchen knife for high-volume food preparation. Its 10-inch blade length provides additional cutting surface compared to shorter chef knives, making it particularly effective for processing large vegetables, herbs, proteins, and bulk prep work. The longer blade allows smooth slicing motions and efficient transfer from cutting board to pan or container. For professional kitchens, this size often becomes the station knife used throughout service because it can handle a wide range of tasks without requiring constant tool changes.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10"?

A: This knife is best suited for professional chefs, culinary students, butchers performing general prep, catering teams, and serious home cooks who prefer a larger chef knife. The Premier Plus series is built around traditional forged German knife design, making it especially attractive to users who value balance, durability, and long-term reliability. Professional users often appreciate the added reach and productivity offered by a 10-inch blade during repetitive prep work. Home cooks with larger cutting boards and confidence using full-size chef knives may also find the 10-inch format highly versatile.

Q: Why would someone choose a 10" chef knife instead of an 8" chef knife?

A: A 10-inch chef knife provides greater cutting length and efficiency when working with larger ingredients. The longer blade can process cabbages, melons, squash, roasts, and large quantities of vegetables with fewer cutting strokes. This often improves workflow speed during high-volume prep. An 8-inch chef knife may feel more maneuverable in smaller kitchens, while a 10-inch model is often preferred by professionals who spend hours performing continuous knife work.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" handle daily professional kitchen use?

A: Yes, the knife is designed specifically for demanding professional environments. Premier Plus is one of F. Dick's core forged professional series and is intended to serve as a long-term workhorse knife. The series is known for its traditional German construction, strong balance, and durability under repeated use. Whether used in restaurants, catering operations, institutional kitchens, or culinary schools, the knife is built to perform consistently throughout extended prep shifts.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" suitable for culinary students?

A: Yes, particularly for students who want to invest in a professional-quality knife early in their training. A chef knife is typically the most frequently used knife in culinary education. The Premier Plus series offers a traditional forged design that teaches proper knife handling, cutting techniques, and sharpening practices. Students who plan to enter professional kitchens often appreciate learning on a knife platform that remains relevant throughout their careers.

Q: Can this knife be used for meat, vegetables, and herbs?

A: Yes, the knife is designed as a multi-purpose chef knife. Its blade profile supports slicing proteins, dicing vegetables, chiffonading herbs, mincing aromatics, and performing many of the core cutting tasks found in commercial kitchens. While specialty knives may perform certain tasks more efficiently, the chef knife remains the most versatile knife in the kitchen.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10"?

A: The Premier Plus series is built for long-term professional use. F. Dick's professional knife lines are recognized for their durability, practical blade geometry, and ability to withstand repeated daily use. The forged construction and traditional German design philosophy prioritize longevity and reliability over visual styling. With proper sharpening and care, a professional chef knife can remain in service for many years.

Q: What cutting performance should users expect from this knife?

A: Users should expect controlled, efficient cutting across a broad range of ingredients. The longer blade supports smooth slicing motions, while the forged construction contributes to balance and stability. This combination helps reduce effort during repetitive prep work. For professional users, the result is a knife that remains comfortable and predictable throughout long shifts.

Q: Does a 10" chef knife improve productivity?

A: For many professional users, yes. The longer blade allows larger cuts to be completed in fewer strokes and can increase efficiency when processing volume ingredients. This is one reason why many executive chefs and production chefs prefer 10-inch chef knives for prep-heavy stations. The benefit becomes most noticeable during large-scale vegetable and protein preparation.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" comfortable for extended use?

A: Yes, the Premier Plus series is designed around professional ergonomics and balance. Comfort during long prep sessions is influenced by handle shape, weight distribution, and blade geometry. Premier Plus is specifically positioned as a traditional professional workhorse with strong balance and a familiar hand feel. Many chefs choose the series because it remains comfortable during repetitive daily use.

Q: Is a 10" chef knife difficult to control?

A: Not for users accustomed to professional chef knives. The additional blade length requires proper technique and adequate workspace, but many professionals find that the longer blade actually improves cutting rhythm and efficiency. New users may need a short adjustment period before the larger format feels natural.

Q: Is this knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes, provided standard professional knife care practices are followed. Regular honing, proper sharpening, hand washing, and safe storage will help preserve edge performance and extend service life. Like most professional forged knives, it performs best when maintained consistently rather than waiting until the edge becomes excessively dull.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10"?

A: The product includes the individual Premier Plus 10-inch chef knife. It is designed as a standalone professional cutting tool and can be combined with other Premier Plus knives, sharpening steels, knife rolls, and storage solutions depending on the user's workflow requirements. Many professionals gradually build a complete knife kit around a primary chef knife.

Q: What other knives are available in the Premier Plus series?

A: The Premier Plus range includes chef knives, paring knives, boning knives, bread knives, carving knives, filleting knives, utility knives, santoku-style options, and specialty knives. This allows users to maintain consistent handling characteristics across their entire knife kit. Many professional kitchens prefer this approach because it creates familiarity and consistency during service.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Chef Knife compare to the F. Dick Red Spirit Chef Knife?

A: Premier Plus focuses on traditional forged German chef knife performance, while Red Spirit offers a more distinctive visual identity and handle design. Both are professional-grade series, but Premier Plus tends to appeal to chefs who prefer a classic, workhorse-style knife. Red Spirit often attracts users looking for a more contemporary appearance and a highly recognizable handle profile. The choice usually comes down to personal preference regarding ergonomics and aesthetics.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Chef Knife compare to the F. Dick 1905 Chef Knife?

A: The 1905 series incorporates a more distinctive historical design and premium visual identity, while Premier Plus emphasizes traditional professional utility. Both are forged professional knives, but Premier Plus is often selected by chefs seeking a straightforward daily-use workhorse. The 1905 series is frequently chosen by users who value both performance and the series' iconic design elements. Both are capable of serving as a primary chef knife in demanding kitchen environments.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" reliable during high-volume prep?

A: Yes, it is specifically suited to repetitive, high-volume kitchen work. The longer blade length supports efficient processing of vegetables, proteins, and herbs, while the forged construction provides the balance and durability professional chefs expect from a primary station knife. For chefs working multiple services per day, consistency and comfort become as important as sharpness, and this knife is designed with those priorities in mind.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" a good first professional knife?

A: Yes, for students who want to develop professional knife skills on a long-term platform. The knife reflects the traditional forged German chef knife format commonly encountered in professional kitchens. Learning with this style of knife helps build transferable skills that remain useful throughout a culinary career. Many students purchase a chef knife first and expand their kit over time.

Q: Can the Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" support large-batch food production?

A: Yes, the knife is well suited to volume-oriented prep environments. Its longer blade can improve efficiency when preparing large quantities of vegetables, proteins, and garnishes. In catering operations and institutional kitchens, reducing cutting strokes across hundreds of portions can contribute to smoother workflows. This makes the knife a practical choice for production-focused teams.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Chef Knife Black 10" too large for home kitchens?

A: Not necessarily. Home cooks with adequate cutting board space often appreciate the efficiency and versatility of a 10-inch chef knife. While it may feel larger than entry-level chef knives, many enthusiasts find the added blade length beneficial once they become comfortable using it. For cooks who frequently prepare family meals or large ingredients, the larger format can be a valuable advantage.
