QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" best used for?

A: The F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" is designed for producing clean, consistent slices of cooked meats, roasts, ham, poultry, large sandwiches, and other foods with delicate interiors or firm exteriors. Its long blade provides extended cutting strokes, helping users slice large products efficiently with fewer passes. The serrated edge grips the surface of the food and cuts through crusts, skins, and exterior layers without crushing the interior. For professional kitchens, catering operations, and deli environments, this combination helps improve presentation quality while reducing product waste during portioning.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12"?

A: This knife is well suited to chefs, deli staff, caterers, butcher shops, institutional kitchens, culinary students, and serious home cooks who regularly slice large proteins or prepared foods. The ProDynamic series is positioned as a professional-grade workhorse line that delivers dependable performance with a practical, value-focused design. Its ergonomic handle and durable steel construction support repeated daily use. Operations that prioritize efficiency, consistency, and ease of handling often find this style of slicer particularly useful.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" handle large roasts and cooked meats?

A: Yes. The 12-inch blade length is specifically advantageous when slicing larger cuts of meat. Longer slicing knives reduce the need for repeated sawing motions. This helps maintain cleaner slice surfaces and can improve the appearance of roast beef, turkey, ham, pork loin, and other proteins. For banquet kitchens, carving stations, and catering operations, the blade length offers additional reach when portioning high-volume preparations.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" suitable for bread and crusted foods?

A: Yes. The serrated edge allows the knife to cut through crusts and tougher exterior surfaces without compressing softer interiors. This makes the knife useful for artisan loaves, sandwich rolls, crusted roasts, and foods with contrasting textures. The serrations initiate the cut efficiently while maintaining control throughout the slicing motion. Many operators appreciate the versatility of a serrated slicer because it can handle both protein and bakery applications.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" suitable for beginners or professionals?

A: It is suitable for both. Professional users benefit from the blade length, ergonomic handle, and efficient slicing performance. Beginners and culinary students often appreciate the straightforward handling characteristics and practical design of the ProDynamic series. Because the knife focuses on functionality rather than decorative features, it is often selected as a dependable daily-use tool.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12"?

A: The knife is built around Friedr. Dick's professional-grade blade steel and is designed for repeated foodservice use. The ProDynamic series uses high-quality German steel and laser-tested cutting edges to support consistent cutting performance. The handle is constructed for secure grip and durability in demanding kitchen environments. With proper care and storage, the knife is capable of delivering long service life in both commercial and home kitchens.

Q: What results should users expect from the serrated blade?

A: Users should expect cleaner cuts with less crushing and tearing of food products. The serrated edge engages the surface efficiently and helps maintain product structure during slicing. This is especially beneficial when cutting foods with hard exteriors and soft interiors. The result is often more uniform portions, improved presentation, and reduced waste.

Q: How does the long 12-inch blade improve slicing performance?

A: A longer blade allows more of the cutting edge to engage the product during each stroke. This creates smoother slicing motions and minimizes the need for excessive pressure. The blade can travel through larger foods in a single continuous motion rather than multiple short cuts. For high-volume prep environments, this can improve efficiency and consistency.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" comfortable for extended use?

A: Yes. The ProDynamic series features an ergonomic full-plastic handle designed to fit securely in the hand. The handle shape supports control during repetitive cutting tasks, while the textured design helps maintain grip. The thumb rest also contributes to handling comfort and control. These features help reduce fatigue during longer prep sessions.

Q: Does the handle support safe operation in busy kitchens?

A: Yes. The non-slip ergonomic handle is designed to provide secure handling during food preparation. A stable grip is particularly important when slicing large proteins or working at high production volumes. The handle design helps users maintain control and accuracy. This focus on practical ergonomics is one of the defining characteristics of the ProDynamic series.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" easy to maintain?

A: Yes. Routine maintenance is straightforward. Friedr. Dick recommends washing the knife by hand, rinsing after use, and drying it immediately with a soft cloth. Dishwashers should be avoided because they can negatively affect edge retention and handle longevity. Consistent cleaning and proper storage help maximize service life.

Q: What makes the ProDynamic series different from many entry-level kitchen knives?

A: The ProDynamic series is designed to provide professional functionality at an accessible price point. Rather than emphasizing decorative materials or premium styling, the series focuses on cutting performance, ergonomic handling, and practical durability. This makes it a popular choice for culinary schools, commercial kitchens, and operators purchasing multiple knives.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" a good choice for foodservice operations?

A: Yes. The knife is particularly well suited to foodservice environments where efficiency and consistency matter. The blade length supports portioning larger products, while the ergonomic handle promotes comfort during repetitive use. The ProDynamic line is widely positioned as a dependable professional workhorse series. These characteristics align well with restaurant, catering, deli, and institutional kitchen workflows.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" compare to a straight-edge slicer?

A: A serrated slicer is generally better at cutting foods with firm exteriors and delicate interiors. The serrations grip and penetrate the surface more easily, which reduces crushing and tearing. Straight-edge slicers often excel at ultra-smooth slicing of boneless proteins but may require more frequent edge maintenance. The preferred choice depends on the products being prepared and the desired cutting style.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" compare to premium Friedr. Dick series such as Red Spirit or 1905?

A: The primary difference is positioning rather than purpose. ProDynamic emphasizes practical performance, durability, and value. Premium series such as Red Spirit and 1905 add elevated materials, distinctive aesthetics, and higher-end construction details. For many operators, ProDynamic delivers the core cutting performance required for daily production while maintaining a more accessible investment level.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" reliable during high-volume service?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for repeated use in demanding kitchen environments. Its long blade supports efficient portioning, while the ergonomic handle helps maintain comfort during extended prep sessions. Professional users often value its practical balance of performance and durability. For banquet service, catering, and production kitchens, these characteristics can contribute to smoother workflows.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" improve carving station efficiency?

A: Yes. The extended blade length allows larger proteins to be sliced quickly and consistently. Reducing the number of cutting strokes can improve presentation and speed of service. This is particularly valuable when serving large groups or managing peak demand periods.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" a good training knife?

A: Yes. It provides many of the characteristics expected from a professional kitchen knife without the investment associated with premium forged series. Students can develop proper slicing techniques while working with a knife designed for real-world foodservice applications. This makes it a practical addition to a culinary toolkit.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" handle daily slicing tasks?

A: Yes. The serrated edge performs well on meats, breads, sandwiches, and products with varying textures. Its ability to maintain clean cuts helps support product presentation while reducing waste. For operators producing large numbers of sandwiches or sliced proteins, the knife offers strong day-to-day utility.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Slicer Serrated Black 12" too large for home use?

A: Not necessarily. Home cooks who regularly prepare roasts, holiday meals, smoked meats, artisan breads, or large cuts of protein often benefit from the longer blade. While it requires more storage space than smaller knives, it can provide superior slicing performance for larger foods. Those who entertain frequently may find the additional blade length particularly useful.
