PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife best for?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife is designed for carving, portioning, and slicing cooked meats with long, controlled cuts. Its narrow blade profile reduces drag through proteins, helping create clean slices while preserving texture and presentation. This makes it particularly useful for roast beef, turkey, pork loin, brisket, and other large cuts where consistency matters. The 10-inch blade length provides enough reach to slice through larger roasts in fewer strokes, improving efficiency and reducing tearing during service. The Premier Plus series is also known for its forged construction, balance, and long service life in demanding kitchen environments.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife?

A: This knife is well suited for professional chefs, caterers, butchers, culinary students, and serious home cooks who regularly prepare large cuts of meat. Professionals benefit from the blade length and control during high-volume service, while home cooks appreciate the ability to achieve cleaner, more uniform slices for entertaining and holiday meals. Anyone seeking a dedicated carving knife rather than relying on a chef's knife will typically see improved slicing performance and presentation.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife handle large roasts and holiday meats?

A: Yes. The blade length and carving profile are specifically suited to larger proteins. Whether carving turkey, prime rib, ham, pork loin, or roast beef, the extended blade helps maintain continuous slicing motion. Fewer cutting strokes generally produce cleaner surfaces and more attractive portions. For banquet service, catering operations, and holiday entertaining, this type of knife offers greater efficiency than shorter utility or chef knives.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series is positioned as a professional forged knife line built for daily use. Its traditional German-style design emphasizes balance, durability, and dependable handling. These characteristics are particularly valuable in restaurant, catering, and institutional environments where knives are used repeatedly throughout service. The knife is designed as a working tool rather than a display piece, which aligns with the needs of many culinary professionals.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife appropriate for culinary students?

A: Yes. Culinary students learning proper protein fabrication and carving techniques can benefit from using a purpose-built carving knife. The blade geometry encourages proper slicing motion and helps develop consistency when portioning cooked meats. It also introduces students to a professional-grade forged knife platform commonly used in commercial kitchens.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife perform compared to using a chef's knife for carving?

A: A carving knife generally produces cleaner and more consistent slices than a chef's knife when working with cooked meats. The narrower blade creates less resistance through proteins, while the longer cutting edge allows smoother slicing motions. This can improve both presentation and portion consistency. A chef's knife remains more versatile overall, but a dedicated carving knife is often the preferred choice for carving tasks.

Q: What results should users expect from the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife?

A: Users should expect clean, controlled slices and improved presentation when serving cooked meats. The blade is designed to move through proteins efficiently while minimizing tearing. This is especially noticeable when slicing delicate roast beef, poultry, and cured meats. The result is more uniform portions and a more professional finished appearance.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick Premier Plus series?

A: The Premier Plus series is recognized as one of F. Dick's core forged professional knife families, emphasizing long service life, balance, and dependable daily performance. When properly maintained and regularly honed, these knives are designed to withstand intensive use in commercial kitchens. The forged construction contributes to overall strength, stability, and durability over time.

Q: Is a 10-inch carving knife too large for everyday use?

A: Not necessarily. For users who frequently prepare larger proteins, a 10-inch blade can actually improve efficiency by reducing the number of slicing strokes required. However, for smaller tasks such as trimming vegetables or preparing small ingredients, a chef knife or utility knife would be a more practical choice.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife easy to control?

A: Yes. Although the blade is longer than many kitchen knives, the Premier Plus series is known for its balanced feel and traditional forged construction. When used for its intended purpose, the knife offers precise control during long carving strokes and helps maintain slice consistency.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife be used for slicing ham and smoked meats?

A: Yes. The blade profile makes it suitable for carving ham, smoked meats, roasted poultry, and similar proteins. For extremely thin deli-style slicing, a dedicated slicer or ham knife may offer additional flexibility, but for most carving applications this knife performs very well.

Q: What accessories pair well with the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife?

A: Several accessories can enhance performance and maintenance, including sharpening steels, knife rolls, magnetic knife storage, professional cutting boards, and knife guards for transport. F. Dick is particularly known for its sharpening ecosystem, making regular edge maintenance straightforward for professional users.

Q: Does the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife require regular honing?

A: Yes. Like most professional kitchen knives, regular honing helps maintain edge alignment between sharpening sessions. Consistent honing supports cleaner cuts, reduces user fatigue, and helps preserve overall cutting performance.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from other F. Dick knife series?

A: Premier Plus focuses on classic forged German knife performance. Compared with visually distinctive collections such as Red Spirit or heritage-focused collections such as 1905, Premier Plus emphasizes traditional ergonomics, balance, and everyday professional utility. Many chefs choose Premier Plus because it delivers a familiar, workhorse-style experience suited to long-term kitchen use.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife?

A: The product includes the carving knife itself. Additional accessories such as knife rolls, guards, sharpening steels, and storage systems are typically purchased separately based on the user's workflow requirements.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife compare with the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife?

A: The Premier Plus model belongs to F. Dick's forged professional knife range, while ProDynamic is positioned as a more value-focused professional line. Users choosing Premier Plus generally prioritize forged construction, balance, and long-term professional use. ProDynamic is often selected when budget and fleet purchasing considerations are more important. Both are professional tools, but Premier Plus occupies the higher tier within the product family.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife compare with carving knives from Wüsthof or Global?

A: All three brands are respected within professional kitchens. Premier Plus appeals to users seeking a traditional German forged knife with a strong emphasis on durability, balance, and everyday kitchen utility. Wüsthof occupies a similar German-forged category, while Global is often preferred by users seeking a lighter and more agile feel. The choice typically comes down to personal preferences regarding weight, handle ergonomics, and cutting style.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife reliable during high-volume service?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for repetitive carving and portioning tasks in professional environments. Its forged construction, balanced feel, and extended blade length help maintain consistency throughout busy service periods. For banquet carving stations, catering operations, and restaurant service, it provides the control needed for efficient portioning.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife be used for portioning cooked proteins after smoking or roasting?

A: Yes. The blade performs particularly well when portioning brisket, smoked meats, roasted poultry, and similar cooked proteins. Its long slicing action helps maintain product appearance while reducing unnecessary tearing of the finished product.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus 10" Carving Knife a good learning tool for carving techniques?

A: Yes. Using a dedicated carving knife helps students develop proper slicing mechanics and understand the differences between knife categories. It also introduces students to the type of professional-grade forged knife commonly found in commercial kitchens.
