QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" best used for?

A: The F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" is designed for carving, slicing, and portioning cooked meats with clean, controlled cuts. Its narrow blade profile reduces drag through the product, helping produce uniform slices of roast beef, turkey, pork loin, ham, and other cooked proteins. The blade length provides good reach while remaining easy to control during service and prep. For chefs and foodservice operators, this knife fills the gap between a chef's knife and a long slicer. It offers the precision needed for presentation-focused carving without the extra blade length that can be cumbersome in smaller prep areas.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5"?

A: This knife is well suited to culinary students, professional chefs, caterers, banquet teams, butchers handling cooked products, and serious home cooks. The ProDynamic series is positioned as a practical professional knife line that delivers dependable performance and ergonomic handling without the premium cost associated with forged collections. Its combination of sharpness, ease of maintenance, and comfortable grip makes it appropriate for both developing skills and daily commercial use.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" handle large roasts and holiday carving?

A: Yes. The 8.5" blade length is well suited for carving medium to large roasts, poultry, and cooked meats. The narrow carving profile helps create long, smooth slices while minimizing tearing. This is particularly useful when presentation matters, such as buffet service, banquet operations, catering events, and holiday meals. While larger slicers may be preferred for very large cuts, the 8.5" size offers greater manoeuvrability and control for everyday carving tasks.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" suitable for beginners or professionals?

A: It is suitable for both. Beginners benefit from the ergonomic, non-slip handle and straightforward maintenance requirements. Professionals benefit from the knife's efficient cutting performance, lightweight feel, and practical design for repetitive use. This balance is one reason the ProDynamic series is widely used in culinary schools, institutional kitchens, and commercial foodservice environments.

Q: Can this carving knife be used for raw meat preparation?

A: Yes, although it is optimized for carving cooked meats and finished proteins. The sharp, narrow blade can also be used for portioning larger raw cuts when appropriate. However, dedicated boning or butcher knives remain better choices for deboning, trimming, and fabrication tasks. For operators seeking a dedicated carving and slicing knife, this model performs best after cooking rather than during primary butchery work.

Q: How sharp is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5"?

A: The knife features a laser-tested cutting edge designed to deliver consistent sharpness and clean cutting performance. The blade is manufactured from stainless steel used throughout the ProDynamic series and engineered to maintain a practical balance between edge retention and ease of resharpening. Clean slicing helps preserve food presentation and reduces unnecessary tearing of meat fibres during carving.

Q: What results should users expect from the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5"?

A: Users can expect cleaner slices, better portion consistency, and improved control during carving. The blade geometry is designed to move efficiently through proteins with minimal resistance. This helps create more professional-looking presentations while reducing effort during service. For high-volume kitchens, consistent slicing can also support portion control and plating accuracy.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5"?

A: The knife is built for regular professional use and everyday food preparation. The blade steel and handle construction are designed to withstand repeated kitchen use while maintaining comfortable handling characteristics. The seamless synthetic handle also supports durability in demanding foodservice environments. With proper care and sharpening, the knife can provide years of reliable service.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" comfortable to use during long prep sessions?

A: Yes. The ProDynamic handle is designed with ergonomics as a priority. Its non-slip synthetic construction, lightweight feel, and integrated thumb support help reduce hand fatigue during extended use. This is particularly valuable for chefs and catering teams performing repetitive slicing and carving tasks.

Q: Does the ProDynamic handle provide a secure grip?

A: Yes. The handle is designed to remain secure in the hand while supporting accurate knife control. The textured, gap-free construction contributes to safe handling and easier cleaning. A secure grip is especially important when working with cooked proteins that may release juices during carving.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" easy to maintain?

A: Yes. One of the strengths of the ProDynamic series is its straightforward maintenance. The blade is designed to be resharpened efficiently when needed, helping operators keep knives in service without excessive downtime. Regular honing and proper cleaning will help maintain optimal performance.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" go in a dishwasher?

A: No. Hand washing is recommended. Like other professional kitchen knives, the knife should be cleaned promptly after use, rinsed with water, and dried thoroughly. Dishwashers can contribute to premature edge wear and unnecessary stress on both the blade and handle.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" suitable for high-volume kitchens?

A: Yes. The knife is designed as a professional workhorse for daily kitchen use. Its combination of practical blade steel, ergonomic handling, and straightforward maintenance makes it well suited to restaurants, catering operations, institutional kitchens, and banquet service. The focus is on dependable performance rather than decorative features.

Q: What sharpening tools work well with the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5"?

A: The knife is compatible with professional honing steels and sharpening systems designed for German-style stainless steel kitchen knives. Regular honing helps maintain edge alignment between sharpenings, while periodic sharpening restores peak cutting performance. Many operators pair ProDynamic knives with F. Dick sharpening tools to maintain consistency across their knife system.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" be stored in knife rolls and knife cases?

A: Yes. Its standard carving knife profile makes it compatible with most professional knife rolls, storage cases, and magnetic knife storage systems designed for kitchen knives. Proper storage helps protect the cutting edge and supports safe transport between kitchens or culinary classes.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" compare to premium F. Dick knife series?

A: The ProDynamic series prioritizes practical performance, value, and everyday usability. Premium series such as 1905, 1778, Vivum, and Premier Plus place greater emphasis on forged construction, premium materials, heritage design elements, or elevated finishing details. For users seeking a dependable professional carving knife without moving into premium price categories, ProDynamic provides a highly practical solution.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" compare to a slicing knife?

A: A carving knife offers greater manoeuvrability, while a slicing knife typically provides more reach. The 8.5" carving knife is easier to control for everyday carving tasks and smaller workspaces. Longer slicing knives are often preferred for very large roasts, smoked meats, or salmon sides. Many professional kitchens use both depending on volume and menu requirements.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" a good choice for culinary students?

A: Yes. The knife provides professional-grade cutting performance while remaining approachable in both cost and maintenance requirements. For students building their first knife kit, it offers exposure to a respected German knife manufacturer without requiring investment in a premium forged series.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" reliable for catering and banquet service?

A: Yes. The knife's blade length, comfortable handling, and clean slicing performance make it well suited to carving stations, buffet service, and banquet operations where presentation and consistency matter. Its lightweight construction also supports repetitive use during busy service periods.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Carving Knife 8.5" suitable for serious home cooks who want professional tools?

A: Yes. The knife delivers many of the characteristics valued by professional kitchens, including sharpness, control, ergonomic handling, and straightforward maintenance. For home cooks looking to move beyond entry-level kitchen knives, it provides a practical introduction to professional-grade German cutlery.
