Q: Why are handles important on the 10cm pan?
A: Because this is the heaviest pan in the GN range when full. A deep pan carrying hot liquid needs two secure points to stay level, and a plain rim does not offer that.
Q: How should a full pan be lifted?
A: Both hands, both handles, level, with the destination cleared first. A GN1/1 pan at 10cm deep holds enough hot liquid to cause a serious injury if it tips.
Q: Does it hold the same as the plain 10cm pan?
A: Yes. Handles change how it is handled, not how much it holds. Footprint, depth and coating are the same.
Q: Do the handles change the pan's rack clearance?
A: They can. The body stays GN1/1 at roughly 53 x 32cm, but handles add width, so on closely spaced racking check the fit before ordering several.
Q: Does it still fit standard racking?
A: It shares the GN1/1 footprint, but handles can change clearance in tightly spaced racks and trolleys. Check the fit before standardizing on it.
Q: When is the handled version worth the extra width?
A: Whenever the pan is carried rather than slid. If it lives in racking and moves on rails, the plain version stores more closely. If it goes from oven to pass by hand, handles are a safety feature.
Q: Does depth make it harder to clean?
A: Deep corners hold residue longer than a shallow tray, which is where the coating earns its place. Soak rather than scrape, and avoid abrasives.
Q: Can it be used for holding at service?
A: Yes. Depth holds temperature well, and handles make it practical to move a full pan into a holding cabinet or onto a pass.
Q: Is it worth the handles if I mostly slide pans?
A: If the pan lives in racking and rarely gets carried, the plain version is fine and stacks more closely. If it is lifted full, handles are a safety feature rather than a convenience.
Q: Can it be used on a hob?
A: It is not built for induction. Where a hob stage is needed, use one of the induction GN pans and transfer, or check the individual listing.
